Essential activity #1

Can you imagine where you would meet the most famous norwegian people all in one place?

…the answer is …the Graveyard!

Ok, maybe not so funny. But in the graveyard known as “Vår Frelsers Gravlund” you really will find over a dozen of gravestones belonging to some of the biggest names in Norwegian history. Except A-ha (ha-ha). Ok, I’ll stop now. Amogst the graves you will find the ones belonging to:

– playwright Henrik Ibsen

– expressionist painter Edward Munch

– writer Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson

– poet Henrik Wergeland

And if that wasn’t enough, if you walk across the graveyard from the main entrance, to where the ground starts to go downwards a lot, you will find one of the most cosy areas Oslo has to offer (perhaps contested by Sagene and the various “hageby”). It’s a small neighbourhood from the 1900s. Go look for it. Here’s the Map.
